Log on to Amazon.com and you will see thousands of products available with the click of a button. As Americans we absolutely love the ability to get the products we need in the blink of an eye with a simple Amazon Prime account. The question becomes “Do we actually know what we are buying?”

If you are like me you you are initially excited about the product you are buying from Amazon but when it arrives the result is less climactic. You realize the pictures of the product don’t match the expectation you had in your mind. Secondarily, over time you find the product does not last as long as you think it should and the overall quality is lacking.

Yet we have an addiction to cheap products with the ability to get them fast and Americans spends billions every year on these products. As consumers we can have almost anything we want but we most often default to cheap and mass produced.

When a true quality product comes along we shutter at the cost and the time it takes to get the product. We seem to think the high quality product should be ready and available whenever the urge hits us to purchase. We look at the usually smaller more boutique companies creating the hand crafted products and wonder why they are not like the mass producer companies.

The difference could not be more stark. Mass producers have invested millions of dollars in automated production equipment and designed their product to be built in mostly standard ways in order to control production costs. With the level of automation they have set in place it has essentially replaced the craftsman with machine operators.

The people on the production floor have no connection whatsoever with the product you have ordered, all they know is it’s the next product coming down the line that needs to completed. Large amounts of inventory are created and shipped to distributors around the world.

Compare this to a true bespoke custom manufacturer, the product is typically hand made and individually crafted for each and every client. The bespoke manufacturer has a method of building clearly but being a truly custom product the customer has many opportunities to customize the product to fit their unique style and preference.

Every product a bespoke manufacturer creates is typically built by craftsman who has the skill set to create a custom product. The automation is typically limited and the quality of the product is down to the human building it. There is a very real sense of pride and ownership in creating a custom product. What the customer receives is a well built product that will last a lifetime that is personalized to them.

Cheap products are not quality and quality products are not cheap. American manufacturing is making a strong return and every day there is a new bespoke manufacturer providing superior products to discerning consumers around the world.

Support your local custom manufacturer and realize the excellence of a truly quality product.
